Dr. Zhang's primary research area is Geographic Information Science and within it, a focus on Cyberinfrastructure, knowledge-driven spatial decision-making, spatial uncertainty modeling, human-centered Geospatial Artificial Intelligence, and social sensing. Dr. Zhang's research aims to develop scalable, sustainable, and intelligent decision support systems to advance spatial knowledge discovery in various application domains such as disaster resilience, critical infrastructure protection, agricultural risk management, and public health surveillance.
