overview

Lipids play crucial roles in a diverse array of biological processes. Unlike soluble nutrients (e.g., amino acids and sugars), lipid molecules are primarily hydrophobic. Their biosynthesis and metabolism occur predominantly at membranes and are facilitated by membrane proteins. We employ multidisciplinary approaches including biochemistry, biophysics, and structural biology to answer how lipid are metabolized at the molecular level. In addition, we also employ genetic and cell imaging methods trying to identify novel factors that govern lipid metabolic pathways. Our overarching goal of our research program is to enhance our comprehension of lipid biology and contribute to the advancement of therapeutic strategies for lipid-related disorders
