The Zhou Lab at Texas A&M is exploring the fascinating frontiers of calcium signaling, optogenteics, epigenetics, immunoengieerning and molecular therapy research with a focus on elucidating the role of calcium channels and DNA modifications in health and diseases and designing better treatment and prevention strategies for cardivaslcuar disorders, autoimmune diseases and cancer. We are particularly interested in understanding how calcium ions are transported across membrane, how ion channels and human epigenome in cells of the immune system can be engineered to achieve tailored function, and how dysregulated ion homeostasis and DNA modifictaions lead to human diseases.
