overview

JoHyun Kim, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University. She earned her Doctorate in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializing in higher education and community college leadership. Dr. Kim previously served as the Associate Director of Institutional Research at Western Illinois University and as a Research Analyst at Parkland Community College before beginning her faculty career in higher education.

Her research focuses on the high school-to-college transition, factors affecting students' access and success in higher education, equity of access to STEM, and community colleges as linkage institutions between high schools, adult education, and the workforce. Specifically, her work examines how underserved youth and adult students (including minority, low-income, first-generation, LGBTQ, non-traditional, international, ESL, and immigrant students) can succeed in higher education settings. She has applied various multivariate statistical methods and conducted analyses on large datasets using literature-based frameworks.
