A simplified Fe2 model of fibre failure and its consequences applied to the design of composite pressure vessels | Conference Paper individual record
abstract

A multiscale model is presented allowing carbon fibre failures to be related to the instability of composite pressure vessels. Fibre failure controls the ultimate reliability of the vessel and the elastic fibres undergo delayed failure, during the lifetime of the structure, due to the viscoelastic nature of the matrix.
