Economic potential of southern forests for energy production | Conference Paper individual record
abstract

There is a significant amount of biomass in southern forests, yet cost remains a major barrier to its utilization for energy production. Forest bioenergy would generate a variety of co-benefits (environmental and socioeconomic). Forest bioenergy production could complement long-run timber supply and forest health. Decisions on forest biomass/bioenergy development should be based on the consideration of the entire value chain.
